KHJ Survey Finds Average Age of Hikikomori in Japan Rises to 36.9, With 43% Now 40 or Older
A survey by the KHJ family-association reports Japan’s average hikikomori age has increased to 36.9, up from 33.1 in 2014. It also says 43% are 40 or older and that some 60-year-olds are supported by parents in their 90s.
