Australian Authorities Order Steam and Other Online Games Platforms to Increase Safeguards and Disclose Transparency, With Fines Up to About 100 Million Yen

Citing concerns that online games can provide access for children to “perpetrator” and extremist ideology contexts, Australian authorities have ordered platforms including Steam to implement safeguards and provide transparency disclosures. Noncompliance can result in a maximum fine of about 100 million yen.
