Japan Turned to Brazilian Japanese Workers to Fill Unpopular Three Ks Jobs

As Japan grew more prosperous in the 1970s, fewer citizens wanted jobs considered kitanai (dirty), kiken (dangerous), and kitsui (demanding). The country increasingly recruited descendants of Japanese migrants who had settled in Brazil.
