Japan’s METI Estimates 5.7 Trillion Yen in Pirated Media Losses and Studies AI as a Countermeasure

Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry says Japanese media piracy caused an estimated 5.7 trillion yen in losses last year. The ministry is conducting a study on the damage to producers of anime and other Japanese media, and considers how AI could help.
