JR East and JR Central Launch Premium Train Services: Luna Azul Sleeper and Shinkansen Supreme Class

Japan's major railway operators are introducing luxury overnight and daytime train options to appeal to premium travelers. JR East's Luna Azul will operate as an overnight express between Tokyo and Aomori with private cabins and shared lounges, while JR Central's new Supreme Class on the shinkansen launches October 1 with fully private lockable cabins, personal Wi-Fi, and reclining suites priced around ¥42,100. Both services represent efforts to modernize Japan's rail network and attract travelers beyond the traditional Golden Route.
