Over 85% of Japanese Game Developers Report Using Generative AI, CESA Survey Finds

A 2026 survey by Japan’s Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) found that more than 85% of Japanese game developers use generative AI in development, up from 51% the previous year. Background and prop artists and assistant programmers were identified among the roles most affected by the technology.
