Gokuraku ni wa Mada Hayai
A tale of human emotion set in the Edo period, centered around Yukinari, an executioner, and the people around him. In this era, most criminals faced execution. One day, Saichiro, the son of a town doctor, witnesses Yukinari executing a criminal. Later, Saichiro sees Yukinari ignoring the pleas of the criminal's family. Yukinari, who seems to regard people as mere objects, responds to Saichiro's inquiry about why he won't listen to the family by saying, "I merely execute the sentence." Saichiro was dissatisfied with the answer, but then something happened... The story of a man who kills and lives unfolds. (Source: Natalie, translated)
